About Us

Highway Dreams

Around Oz

In brief, we are:

  • Anthony, Jane, Cooper & Leo.  An Aussie family from Northern NSW
  • On the road travelling “long term”. Exploring and experiencing the highways and outback tracks of Oz since March 2010.
  • Loving life. Having a great time. Having fun. Learning new things and sharing our adventures with as many people as possible.
  • Promoting the travel, caravanning, camping and 4x4ing lifestyle.
  • We consider ourselves ambassadors for Australian Tourism
  • We take products out in the field during our travels and use them in REAL TIME and share our POSITIVE thoughts via reviews and online discussions
  • We consider ourselves as somewhat adventurous. We love trying new things and visiting new places.
  • We are 100% non-funded, non- sponsored or assisted financially. We fund our journey from our own savings and money we make during our travels. Our websites are completely non-commercial and do not raise any revenue. They are simply used to promote us as a travelling family, the lifestyle and the great products we find useful out on the road.

Since March 2010 we have been out on the highways of OZ living and travelling full time in a camper trailer. Initially it was just 3 of us before the birth of our second child in February 2012- now we are a family of 4. We own a 2003 Holden Rodeo which has handled some great outback tracks such as the Gibb River Road in the Kimberly’s, The Birdsville Track, Steep Point (the western most point of Australia) and many other unnamed roads of equal harshness and difficulty. We have done over 50,000km of travel so far and it hasn’t let us down mechanically in all those harsh km’s.

We have recently upgraded to a new 2012 Jayco Eagle Outback camper. We chose an off-road model and optioned it with a few features that will allow us to “get off the beaten track” more comfortably.

We recently decided to start sharing our journey and show to many interested people and other families in particular, the joys, the benefits and the experiences they may be able to enjoy one day, as seen through our eyes in the form of online and print media. This initially was an idea to add a 3rd dimension to our travels and possibly act as a valuable resource for our children later on. It has since evolved into a resource that we hope will be a future reference for many to the possibilities of travelling Australia, not only long term but short term travel and camping trips as well.

So why the website?

  • We are Roving Freelance Travel Writers and love writing about our adventures as a travelling family.
  • We love to road test and review products in real-time (ie actually using products on a daily basis, not just spending 10 minutes evaluating them like a lot reviews are written) and share them online for the interest of other travellers.
  • We love taking Photographs of Australian Towns, History & Scenery and we use our photos for a variety of purposes (including use on this website).
  • We are advocates for the nomad lifestyle and publicly support Australian Tourism specifically the caravanning, 4×4 and camping industries.
  • We aim to try and encourage other families to get out there and “make some memories”, experience a lifestyle that is unequalled to any other and share some quality time learning together as a family. we live in a GREAT country- we all should take some time see as much of it as we can!

Thanks for stopping by!
