The Eagle has landed!

We have had a very busy few weeks and every time we seem to get things under control, another thing pops up! However things are really starting to take shape and are falling into place nicely.

We have had a few delays to us continuing our trip but they have all been for the better. For instance our major delay was waiting to take delivery of our new camper. We had a change of plan and got a great deal on a Jayco Eagle Outback camper. We were going to buy a second-hand model but the new Jayco Eagle range really got us excited and we had to get one. They are a great step up from our softfloor camper we used previously.

July 7th saw us do a road trip to Melbourne via a few days in Sydney. It was an overnight stop in Melbourne to take delivery of the Jayco Eagle direct from their factory in Dandenong. It was amazing to see the factory and “where it all happens”. The name of the street is Jayco Drive- love it. Such a huge place and employs over 800 people.

When we arrived at Jayco, we were treated so well by the office staff and Peter, who gave us a run down of our camper and how everything worked was fantastic, he answered all my stupid questions and explained in detail how the setup and pack up of the camper is done. he even hooked it to our vehicle, set the electric brakes and ensured everything was perfect for our 1500km trip home!

I cant wait to show you our new camper but that will have to wait as we are still perfecting the accessories such as bagged awnings and bed fly’s! The interior of these things are very similar to what you would find in a full-sized caravan. The great thing is that to tow it its only 13.5ft long yet setup it’s over 21.5ft and has ample of sleeping area. Perfect for our family and is going to serve us well living full-time in it over the coming months.

We are roughly a week out from setting off. We still need to have the car serviced, a few extra bit and pieces fitted, install a suitable deep cycle battery, install the solar regulator, get the registration organised and finish sorting out all our new camping gear we have to take.

I’m off to do some more packing- let the game of tetris begin………….
